C8+Baader film vs 102 refractor+wedge?

I do white light observing mostly with a 102mm reflector and Herschel Wedge.

I was just wondering how good the view would be using a C8 plus Baader solar film in comparison as it would be relatively inexpensive to get a filter.

I've observed a lot with both the refractor and C8 on bright objects such as moon and planets  and in summary the refractor shows better contrast while the C8 shows more detail.

I've used solar film with a 120 f5 achromat refractor and 127 f15 Maksutov and can tell my wedge is better than film, but does the aperture of a C8 win out or is it not enough to beat a smaller refractor with a wedge?
