Guiding cross hair question

Recommended Posts

I am using an asiair pro with a ZWO120mm mini and zwo guidscope. I have no problem setting up the guiding and getting what I believe is a fairly good error.

The question is after setting up the guiding on the guide star the cross hairs are crossed over the star. Over time the cross hairs move away from the star, progressively more so. This can be seen from the first picture to the second. Is this normal??

Is that just the drift on the Dec axis which isn't being guided? It knows it is off target but can't do anything about it?

That's my guess :)

I never thought of it like that. As I am using a star adventurer pro it does not track in the declination, hence why the Dec is turned off. So yes I think your right. Thanks.
