2 Port usb pcmia card recommendations??

Hya folks,

I'm trying to reduce the power draw on my powerstation, so instead of using a powered hub I thought I might just use a card for the lappy (I'm only 1x port short on the lappy).

I've scanned the net and found alsorts BUT some horrible reports of difficulties getting them to work. :shock:

I have an Acer Aspire 3692 lappy running XP pro SP3 and a generic driver for the card slot-driver is

ENE CB-712/714/810 CARDBUS CONTROLLER, but would like recommendations and/or brands to steer clear of.

OR any ideas as to whether a simple 1x-2x usb adapter would suffice.

ports req'd for:

300D 2x (1x DSLRFocus & 1x download USB1.1)

eqmod mount control (FTDI TTL232R cable 1x)

game controller 1x (USB 2(?))

QH5Y 1x (USB2 (?))

I bought an ebuyer Extra value card (their own brand) and it has worked on several laptops with no problem
