ASCOM for the EQM 35 pro

Hi,

Has anyone here downloaded and used ASCOM for the EQM 35 pro SynScan hand controller?  I'm looking into guiding with my new guide scope / guide camera and the tutorial i'm looking at for setting up PHD2, the chap uses ASCOM from his laptop to control the mount instead of using a cable that plugs in directly.

My thinking is that once the driver has been installed onto the hand controller my laptop when using PHD2 would be able to control the mount?

The normal practice is to not use the handset, but to drive the mount directly from the computer using Ascom\PHD2\CDC etc....
