Just to clarify, the circuitry is in the USB end of the FTDI TTL, the project box was merely a "location" for the connections. The box is tiddly and was filled with hot glue both to secure the connections and water proof it

The beauty about this system is that you can stick it in any port, hub or otherwise and will always get the same port allocation

i tried to crimp the 3 wires at an rj45 but they were too thick to fit in the rj45 so i took a utp cable and soldered the cables of the usb cable to the utp cable. i insulated all the cables and i was ready to go.

have you taken a look at the Eqmod Yahoo group ? Almost all , indeed ALL your queries can be answered there plus downloads and diagrams regarding the Eqmod/ TTL 232 5v wiring stuff

Hehe the FT232BM (which is probably what you're using) is a good chip. I have two here - one from a TTL project and the other inside the ATIK 16ic.
