Evostar 72ed - visual advice

Hi all,

I’ve been using my Evostar 72ED for imaging and love it. As I tend to hike a lot I’d quite like to use it as a visual grab and go. 
 

Can anyone offer any advice on a suitable diagonal (I’ve seen some posts that go back and forth on focus issues with 2” diagonals). Currently own a selection of 1.25” eyepieces.

If you're thinking of sticking with 1.25" eyepieces, and keeping in mind the fact that the 72ED is an excellent visual scope but with a relatively small aperture, I'd suggest getting the best diagonal you can afford. The bright and beautiful Baader BBHS immediately jumps to my mind.

I have both the revelation and altair 1.25 diagonals. Both great build quality and reasonably priced. The altair is a snazzy red too.

I use them with my Ed80 and 120. They are really good and not too expensive. I think they would be great with the 72.

I would stick with the GSO/Revelation diagonals because the WO (Synta?) and its variants have a field stop of sorts at the bottom of the insertion barrel that vignettes widest field 1.25" eyepieces.  Since I use mine for binoviewing with 22mm clear aperture binoviewers, this doesn't matter to me, but it might to you.
