Viewing a histogram

I've taken a number of exposures because I want to do some playing around with exposure times and histograms. They've been taken with my canon 450D which gives me two files CF2 and JPEG. I use APT which puts the files directly on my laptop so I couldn't view the histogram on the camera.

I was warned on an earlier thread that you should look at the histogram of the raw file and not the JPEG because the camera does some processing when it generates the JPEG. I use GIMP which doesn't accept CF2 so what's the best software for viewing the histogram of the raw images?
