Ampthill
I was imaging the Orion nebula last night, I noticed a line in the bottom right of the image. The exposure time was 20 sec, with a Skywatcher 72ed. It shows up on 9 images Could this have been an asteroid?, It seems too slow for a satellite!. Any thoughts would be great! lukebl
That'll be a geostationary satellite. They orbit high above the equator, so that from northern latitudes they appear a few degrees south of the celestial equator due to parallax. Which is why they so often appear in images of the Orion Nebula and other objects at a similar declination.
