SW Dobsonian RJ45-RJ45 cable wiring

Hello,

I own a SW 406/1800 Flextube Dobsonian telescope, and I just lost the  RJ45-RJ45 cable that connects the 2 motors. Cad anyone please provide a wiring schematics or a picture of the two ends of this cable? I cannot find it anywhere.

Just use a standard i.e. one to one, network cable

I tried, but it doesn't seem to work. I believe the original cable had some sort of crossover wiring.

I don't have one of your mounts, but SW's standard way of wiring, would be to use 4 pins in the connector for the RA motor & the other 4 for DEC motor, both motors are usually bi-polar stepper motors.

So if you have a suitable multimeter you can identify which pins are for which motor, and then work back from there....

Thank you for your reply. This method is a bit over my capabilities I just know how to use a crimp tool, but that's it. Maybe I get lucky and someone has this wiring schematics

I have just had a look at the cable on my Skyliner 250 (10") mount, and the cable is pin 1 to pin1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc. up to pin 8 to pin 8. To achieve this, the cable outer has its central injection moulding line on the pin side at one end (the one that has the ferrite clamp), and the moulding line is on the retaining clip side at the other end. If you hold the cable with both plugs having the pins facing you, the colour sequences are identical.
