No instructions

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I have recently received a National Geographic 76/700 premium telescope. The quality of all the parts is satisfactory, however there were no instructions. I have assembled it to the best of my ability and all the parts fit together and were used, matching the image on the box perfectly (after much perseverance) however when I look through any of the lenses nothing is visible at all. The dust caps have been removed and yet there is nothing visible. If anyone knows where I may have gone wrong or anything I could do to ensure that my new telescope will work correctly, I would appreciate any help.

When you say nothing is visible, what do you exactly mean.  Have you tried aiming it at a tree or other object in the distance (during the daytime) and focused until you get a clear image. This is usually a good way of checking its focusing capabilities.

Also, and I know this is obvious but did you take the end cap off the scope?

also are you starting with the lowest power eyepiece, the one with the larger number on it? and without the barlow lens fitted. Too much magnification will darken the image so always best to start with low power and then work up.

None of the mirrors came fitted with a protective cover on them to protect them in transit did they? Never bought a scope new hence the question. You should be able to look down the tube and see a nice clear mirror at the bottom and the reflection of the smaller secondary. With no eyepiece fitted and aiming in daylight away from the sun, you should see light down the eyepiece tube which would at least confirm that light is reaching the main mirror and reflecting off the smaller secondary and up to where they eyepiece would sit, assuming they are at least reasonably aligned.
