A question

Has anybody tried Gimp 2 ?

It is free and my son has downloaded it for me as I cant aford Photoshop.

And I get lost with it :oops:

It's great Bernie,

I use it for the final touches to images. Because it only handles 8bit you want to do the stretching in PixeInsight (also free) which will work in 16bit and give a better stretch (curves etc). I use gimp for the final presentation stuff. They will eventually move to a 16bit version.

Ahem I will have a go but I don't understand all that stuff about bits.
