Still vs cine lenses for astro use

Recommended Posts

I was looking at the Samyang 135mm f2 as it has a good following for astro use but noticed there is also a cine version Samyang 135mm T2.2 which has a focus gear ring and a longer focus throw making auto focus mods easier. Cine zoom lenses are significantly more expensive compared to their still equivalent as they have to focus track when zooming, (not necessary for a still camera) among other things, and are normally heavier. The 135mm cine is only £40 more. Does anyone have any knowledge on how cine lenses fair for astro use. I assume they should at least match their still equivalent or even exceed it as they're normally made to a more exacting spec. The Samyangs are the same weight with the same number of elements and groups, though the cine one is slightly shorter.
