Moon - a different approach!

Jumping on the bandwagon of manipulating images, here's one I've done from a photo I took of the moon the other day.

For them what can't work it out, the top one is the original and the bottom one the manipulation! I like the way the bottom one gives a sense of contours.

That looks cool - kind of like a watercolour. I like it!

Unfortunately, I don't have any suitable software at present to do the manipulation (unless I can find a way to do it with the Nikon Capture NX software). I think I might see what I can get on a student / teacher licence.

Free?! My favourite price! Is it actually any good? If it is, I'll do a search for it.

Interesting effect Chris. Gimp is pretty good, but is limited to 8bit editing. I think that's probably fine for shots like this though. If you want something a little more advanced, as a student, take a look here

Thanks for that. I'm thinking I can get a student license via my kids. Failing that, most companies do licenses for teachers. I'll have a look at GIMP though.
