Hallo John,

If you're going to be doing broadband stuff with the full spectrum of visible light, separate R, G, B, and L filters can yield better results, but only at the margins, especially if you have a dark site to work from. Most folk do perfectly well with one-shot-color (OSC) cameras. They're a lot simpler to operate and processing is also much easier.

For me the biggest advantage to mono+filters was the jump to narrowband imaging, since I live in heavy light pollution and the hydrogen-alpha wavelengths are absent from most of that.
