Astromaster reflector

Recommended Posts

The Astromaster  Reflectors have a  protective cover /  blank which fits into the front end of the OTA.  The cover itself also has a  small  concentric demountable plug.   Can somebody please tell me what this  is intended for.  There is no mention of it in  the Celestron  info. sheets.

It offers the chance to use a reduced aperture for looking at the Moon if the full aperture is too bright for comfort or for viewing the Sun with a suitable filter fitted to it. In both cases there will be a reduction in resolution commensurate with the smaller aperture. If there is another round, unperforated detail on the cap, this is where you fix the removable one to save losing it in the dark.   ?
