SW AZ4-2 with Bresser Messier clamshell

Hi I'm currently using a Bresser Messier AR-90/900 with the plastic clamshell type ring with a Sky Watcher AZ4-2 mount.

I was looking to use some metal tube rings with a metal dove tail plate as I really don't have faith in the plastic clam shell, and the plastic plate.

Is this totally nuts? or a worthwhile thing to replace?

Depends on the tube size, if the "cheap" Skywatcher ones fit it's a good idea, if only available ones are Primaluce then it becomes an expensive upgrade.

ok thanks Davey, I will measure the tube od tonight and ask around, Harrison and Rothervalley always seem helpful.

I tried getting the tube diameter from Bresser UK but they say the clamshell is compatible, I explained it's a preference thing.

Both the above have asked me to measure the O/D of the tube.

How accurate do I need to be? are we talking about micrometer levels of accuracy?

Smallest Skywatcher size is 90mm which they say fits  80/90mm.

Primaluce do a bigger range of odd sizes 80/85/87/90/95/100/102/113 but then you pay for it.

Bresser UK said they don’t think The Skywatcher will fit. 

I will still measure the tube as the shop asked, you never know.

Bresser Germany replied to me, they said the tube dia is 92mm, RotherValleyOptics said the SW Rings are pretty much bang on 92mm so I may give it a punt.

Any tips to make sure I don't over tighten something?

All fits fine, Bresser DE were very helpful. 

And RotherValleyOptics were totally awesome.
