The Intergalactic Tramp (NGC 2419)

There was an earlier post about NGC 7006 - a distant globular cluster in Delphinus. I thought that was probably the most distant GC I would be able to see. The real highlight of this week has been observing NGC 2419 in Lynx - the Intergalactic Tramp or Wanderer. At nearly 300k L.Y. from us and the Galactic Centre this GC is well out in intergalalctic space.

If only we could see the closest GC to us from our northerly latitude

I did see NGC 2419 through a 20" scope early in the year - quite incredible view when thinking about its distance.
