Rev Thomas William Webb - Victorian stargazer

Recommended Posts

Many of you will know that this famous Victorian stargazer was the Patrick Moore of his era. He produced the famous and popular book 'Celestrial Objects for the Common Telescope' which ran to 7 editions - the last one in 1962. Webb was a vicar in Herefordshire and recently Janet and Mark Robinson published a book , with a foreward by Sir Patrick called 'The Stargazer of Hardwicke'.

Herefordshire Astronomical Society is pleased to announce that Janet and Mark will give a talk on Thomas Webb at the next meeting of the Society - Thursday 6th November at 7.00pm at the Kindle Centre, next to Asda in Hereford City.

If you are interested in astronomical history then please come along

Thomas Webb is still mentioned in many current books - O'Meare in his book 'Hidden Treasurers' mentions Webb a number of times.

Hope to see you on the 6th

Mark
