From what I've read, they were called 'Sovietski' in the States which I find a touch amusing :). I've got my TAL1 OTA mounted on a small dob mount which I use while my imaging rig does it's stuff, I have loads of fun with my 'light thimble'!

IIRC, the TAL's were originally called Siberia over here. I believe the Blue ones are the older models.

I had a blue 6" TAL newt for a while - wonderful bit of engineering and excellent optically. Just a bit heavy for the old back ....
