Cocoon Nebula

Cocoon nebula - 18 subs @ 360 secs, ISO1600 with 150PL on CG5. Probably would have been better with some filtering to enhance the contrast due to the overall short exposure time at f#8, so had to try and smooth out the noise a bit.

He's not too bad at all

The Cocoon nebula always fascinates me, the rich hydrogen emissions, the wispy reflection nebulosity (tricky to capture at f8), and the apparent black tail tearing its way through the galaxy. I've imaged it many times but am hoping to glimpse it at a dark site in a few weeks.

It's certainly an intriguing target. I've tried to bring out the nebulosity a bit more as the image was a bit dark.
