Hi everyone

First effort with my long exposure galaxy killer (I wish) setup. 8 minute light frames was as long as the moon would allow. Disappointing. 2 hours and barely a hint of a spiral. Oh, and some horizontal stripes -bad flat frames? The barren skies of spring are gonna be frustrating challenging;)

Positive note? Still to find a target without OAG stars, though I should not speak too soon. Early galaxy days. Do share your experiences.

That's a very decent image, I think you got more definition in the structure. I had about the same time on it (~2 hours) and this is what I got...

Thanks, it's 2x drizzled so the original image is about the same scale as yours. The spiral structure just needs more exposure time, as you found out!

Here's an interesting comparison from this project.

20 x 3 minute frames using a 250mm f4.7. Original post above was with a 150mm f8, 2 hours in 8 minute frames; both 1200mm focal length.

2 hours with the 250mm is gonna be interesting...
