Un-modded cameras will pick up something its just it typically takes about 5 times the exposure to get any really useful data.

I used a NikonD200 before I picked up the 350D and modded it myself (Reasonable investment in Nikon kit for general photographic use)

It's since I have had the modded 350D that my output has shot up because I can now get quite useable data with an hour of subs rather than 5 hours like I used to have to do...
