Moonfish eyepieces

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am looking at buying a moonfish eyepiece, maybe this one..

http://moonfishgroup.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=50&osCsid=2fcc6a704de3d13eaab0568f6d276377

However, my scope is F 4.8 so it will probably look like Rubbish as my scope is quite fast.

My question is, how much difference would a Baader MPCC make? Would it allow me to use the Moonfish eyepiece?

Thanks for any help!

Could be two flaws in your plan:

1\ I've used the Moonfish 15mm and 30mm 80deg eyepieces in an f5 scope and it wasn't a pretty sight. But that all depends on how tolerent you are of out of focus stars from 50% out.

2\ Pretty sure the MPCC isn't corrected for 2" eyepieces???? Not sure on this, but could be a problem.

How about the new Skywatcher Aero ED 2" 30mm 68deg eyepiece? It's corrected for faster scopes, so almost certainly better than the Moonfish. It costs £105, which is a lot cheaper than a Moonfish (£69) and an MPCC photo/visual (£115). Also the combined cost of those two puts you up close to some premium eyepieces secondhand.
