A bit of the California

Hi all. I've been experimenting with the newly-discovered delights of perfect guiding with my off-axis guider.

This is the result of 20 minute exposures with an HA filter, which I never used to be able to achieve. Almost perfect stars, AND with a Newtonian!

I've always found the California nebula (NGC 1499) a bit boring, and it's very big. However, a closeup like this shows some subtle detail.

9 x 1200 second exposures, Atik 428ex, HA filter, 1000mm f/5 Newtonian.
