Will filters improve my planets?

Recommended Posts

I'm after some advice on improving my imaging, hope this is the right place.

I've taken some shots of Jupiter with an SPC900NC standard webcam on my Celestron C90 mak spotting scope. These are coming out better than I expected, but can anybody tell me if I am likely to get more out of my camera/scope using filters? I have read that the Baader Neodymium imrpoves contrast and detail? Or is it just not worth it on such a small scope?

I also have a DMK21AU04.AS monochrome - should I forget the SPC and get some RGB filters for my DMK?

Hi Andy

Check this out http://stargazerslounge.com/index.php/topic,20714.0.html if you want to help

improve the 900NC. I t works for most planets.

Remeber 2 things first always use an IR block with a standard planetary filter and choose

the right type of filter to enhance details.

Obviously the DMK is the daddy in this case. But

this technique helps out the one shot colour webcams.

Ed
