Focus Knob movement

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Just a quick question regarding my Flextube 12" Dob.

I assembled my scope on Thursday and noticed that the focus knob on the crayford focuser has a lot of play in it . It rotates the focuser fine but it just feels like it has a lot of slop in it, almost like it is loose in the housing.

Just wondering if this is normal with anyone else who has something similar.

Thanks in advance and as soon as I get a clear night you will be the to know.

sorry my fault

I found a little grub screw directly underneath the focus knob and tightened it and it seems much better even though it has made the focuser a little stiffer to rotate but I am sure it will bed in if I ever get the chance to use it.

Thanks

Ah, I see - sorry.

Again there could be an allen key loose. Look for a small hole in the shaft of the focus knob. perhaps the allan bolt is obscured by the focuser body - taking it apart should reveal the problem.

Okay, just read your reply. Glad it seems sorted now.
