Firecapture for DSOs

Today I took delivery of a shiny new ASI1600MM - and I'm just trying to get my capture routine sorted.

I want to use Firecapture, because I know my way around it and really want to avoid having to get yet another software product. I've got the cooling sorted, and a capture method - except for one problem.

If I set the file type to FITS, and the exp to say 30s, the image seems to start looping before I hit the record button. This means that when I do hit the record button, its part-way  through a 30s loop and doesn't re-start. I cant see the exposure times in the windows explorer preview, or the image itself, so not sure what I'm actually capturing, but it looks like the images are getting downloaded in mis-timed sections.

This seem odd - I must be doing something wrong - any ideas please?

One further thing - I cant see any way to preview the FITS images from within FC - does anyone know is this possible?
