QHY 5 & QHY 2 Pro

Hello all,

I'll be wanting to get myself an imaging camera and a guide camera soon so I was wondering if any of you have any comments on either of these two cameras.

I know quite a few of you are using the QHY 5 guidecam and would be interested to know how you rate them, likewise if any of you are imaging with the QHY 2 Pro your thoughts on that would also be appreciated.

Roy, I'm using the QHY5 in conjunction with PHD and I kid you not, it took me 10 minutes to get it running after I installed the drivers and PHD. So far, I've only struggled to find a suitable guide star once in 6 months and I don't even have guidescope rings. When I was getting my imaging kit together, I had nightmares about the guiding but it's been simplicity itself . Plus I have seen then used as Lunar and planetary image cams if the mood takes your fancy.

I use an Atik 16HR so the QHY2 is a comeplete unknown to me, sorry!

Same as Tony said about the QHY5 except my guide scope (ED80) is mounted in guide rings (which I have never had to adjust) to find a guide star.

Cannot comment on the QHY8 as I'm a DSLR imager, there's quite a few on SGL using QHY8's so you shouldn't have too long to wait for an answer.

You won't be disappointed with the QHY5 tho

Just out of interest Roy, it looks like the QHY2 pro is a Sony 285 chipped cam. Have you thought about the Atik and Starlight Xpress equivalent models? I've got the Atik 16HR and it's the bees knees.

I used to own a SX SXV-M7, sold it along with everything else a while back, I was thinking of getting the Atik 314L but now I'm not so sure.

I'm not in any great hurry, so I've got time to find out as much as I can about the QHY 2 before making any decisions.
