Dew Shield Power Supply

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was finally thinking about buying my first telescope, I was looking at a Celestron nexstar 6 se but that is now out of my budget since it's recent price rise, I'm currently looking at the new Skywatcher AZ5 range.

Scopes,

I've read about dew control and that heated is the best option in the uk but I can't find much info on what type of power supply would be best, I need a portable solution as I can't drive due to head injuries so my local park is my best location after the street lights go out. I was thinking of a heated due cap and a heated strap for the eyepiece, would that be enough. I've seen this but it is very expensive and would I need two if I used a goto mount.

Could anyone advise me on cheaper alternatives, how long they would last, the best dew straps and setup etc, really appreciate any advise, thanks.

Thanks for reply, I was going to make a dew shield to start off, I just read a lot of people found they needed the heated kind with this type of scope.  Just wonder about a portable power supply and what rating would be best if needed later, can goto scope and dew shield be run from one power source etc, it may determine  what scope I buy.
