Not forgetting that under UK skies the max magnification you can normally acheive is x250 and usually less - typically a LOT less.

Actually, that's not quite true. All things being equal with average sky conditions, a smaller scope would more likely be able to reach it's theoretical maximum magnification than a larger one. This is due to 'cells' of differing atmospheric conditions, a larger scope would be more likely affected by two or more cells whilst a smaller model, less so. This doesn't mean that you'd see more detail as only more aperture would mean more resolution but being able to crank up the magnification, and making the object bigger sometimes makes things easier to observe.

Thanks for the help.

Ordered the scope off Pulsar Optics on the 22nd with next day delivery.

Still waiting. Totally gutted.

Sorry to hear that - be sure to complain to Pulsar - too many people seem to just accept poor service as par for the course :)

Hope it arrives soon.
