Mine arrived today and replacing the old with new was a three minute job.    Just a week to Australia - very happy with that.

6.5 mm width is perfect.

I also tightened up the tension a little on the Dec axis as it was a bit looser than the RA.    A few minutes of slewing each axis and they seem as smooth as silk.

The old ones had a lot of worn belt dust so it was time for new ones anyway it seems.  (The picture of my finger)

Ordered six so that should do for the foreseeable life of the mount.

Thanks again and yes it would be interesting to see how they have fared.   My old belts have about 5-600 hours of use over three years.

Hello,

Where did you buy the belts and can you send the specs?

Well, time to resurrect an old topic!

I’ve recently stripped the az-eq6 down for cleaning and worm bearing replacement and noticed one of the replacement belts looked deformed.

I thought it might be ok, so after the rebuild I’ve just tested it and the deformed belt has had it. It’s time to replace them again.

They were bought 4 years ago and I wouldn’t say they’ve had constant heavy use (no chance in this country!) so I can only put it down to temperature changes over time.

I will order some more, probably 4 this time so I have spares.

Moral of this story, check your belts! It’s easy one this mount, 4 screws and the cover comes off. Drive the mount in all directions and watch it.
