Acer Aspire One + Stellarium + Celestron Nexstar 4SE

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire One netbook. As an afterthought I was wondering if:

1) Anyone has one and has successfully installed Stellarium to it? I don't see a package for it in yum (it is a Unix machine, Linpus Lite).

2) If so, has been able to use it to control a GOTO scope, more specifically a Celestron Nexstar?

Thanks in advance.

There is a stellarium 0.9 rpm file for Fedora 9, and Linpus seems to be based on Fedora, so maybe this would work.

I have used it on a Fedora 9 distribution on a normal laptop, together with the stellarium linux celestron driver (look on the stellarium wiki for this - you have to build it yourself, mind) , to successfully drive a Celestron Nexstar.

Ok, I now have Stellarium installed to the AA1, works nicely. Now I just need a serial to usb adapter so I can plug the scope into the netbook, and see how things go from there.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
