PHD2 and QHY5L-II - help!

Update!

In the post above I neglected to mention I was using the ASCOM telescope simulator when trying out PHD2.  When I got around to connecting to the real mount, I had a resurgence of time out problems.

:-(

But I have the final solution.     A powered USB hub.  I bought a reasonably priced USB3 hub and connected the camera, mount-serial-USB adapter and an xbox controller.   Just one cable from the hub to the laptop and it all works!  Yay!

I struggled with patchy cloud causing multiple 'star lost' errors but I finally got my mount to lock on to a guide star.   The first results were disappointing (maybe due to the wind) but I don't think I've had enough of a clear sky to get a properly tuned PHD2 setup.

'Star lost'x1,000,000!!!
