Hi everyone, is it possible to reduce the magnification of my modified  MS 720hd (5mp) webcam when inserted into the focucer? Increasing magnification is obvious but im kust unsure about reducing it, to give a wider field of view?

Thank you for any advice...John

I think that all you can do is put a reducer in the focuser then have that reducer image fall on tne webcam.

Problem is that a reducer will I think draw the image in towards the OTA so you could need more inwards travel on the focuser, or the webcam has to go further down the focuser.

When you say "modfied MS 720hd" I assume that the modification is the removal of the front lens?

Not sure how much of an improvement you will get for the field. Should have a wider final result but exactly how much may be a bit of an unknown. Also not sure of the cost of a reasonable reducer and if it will screw into the focuser. What is the scope ??

Im running a SW 130mm Goto, the camera is ideal for planetary & lunar work but I was hoping to expand into some basic wide field images. The camera is modified & a picture is attached of the camera. Appreciative of your time and advice.
