QHY5 and WCS

Recommended Posts

Sorry, should have explained WCS. It was initially written specifically to allow web cams to be used in drift alignment. You lock on a star, wait a bit and it tells you how much to adjust RA, then repeat for Dec. The web site says it now supports DSI cameras and ImagingSource cameras as well.

One forum member reported that the Opticstar PL-130M also works using "the Windows driver". It seems that any camera that "uses an WDM compatible Windows Device Driver" will be OK. I have no idea whether the QHY5 comes into that category or not.

If anyone who has a QHY5 is feeling generous, they could download WCS from http://wcs.ruthner.at/index-en.php and see if it will connect.

You are a gent Tony. Just had a quick look at the doc since its ages since I installed it - you need the .NET framework installed. If you haven't got it, please don't install it just for this.
