Meade LPI 15

Hi,

I've got myself a celestron C6-N the mount currently is not driven but I intend to put these on ASAP, I'm looking at getting a MEADE LPI as it has been recommended to me. I see it has exposures up to 15 secs, please excuse my lack of knowledge but does the mount need to be driven for such a short exposure? I'm new to this.

What are you planning on using it for?

I had an LPI (got it free with a scope) but it's not really very good.

A webcam (Toucam) is better for the planets.

Hi John,

For planets mainly but anything else I can get in the scope and keep there, I'm not expecting great shakes but would like to start learning how to do it.

You'll find it's very noisy for longer exposures (anything over 1 sec) so it won't be much use for deep sky (galaxies etc) but it'll be OK on the planets.

For just planets, a Philips Toucam webcam is generally accepted to be better though.
