GRS....finally!

Had my 14 inch scope rigged as my guidescope last night, was shutting down everything around dawn and saw that Jupiter was just visible so, not having to worry about taking calibration frames with the 14, I whipped off the guidecam and, unusually for me, had a look at Jupiter through a variety of eyepieces.

I suppose the first time I saw any detail on Jupiter must have been in the late '60s but I had to wait until last night to finally see the GRS!

Congratulations! It's more like a great 'white' spot, but a thrill nonetheless.. I'm glad you were able to see it.

True...not terribly red at all!!

Looked great at around x600...great thing with the 14 is you can really push the magnification if seeing is good enough
