really really stupid question, i asked a while back if anyone on here had seen the 2 ice giants uranus and neptune.

anyway can't remember the replies or find the thread so i'll re ask.

the main point though is whether any of you have ever seen the moons of any of these two. love to hear a yes but i was told it's nigh on impossible.

:nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

The planets are easy enough, I've seen them using dinky little 7x35 binoculars.

Not too sure how easy/hard/impossible it would be to see the moons, though.

I've seen Uranus' moons many times, mostly with my friend Dennis' 28" Dob. I had the pleasure to view them with Eric Karkoshka, who had recently discovered 5 more in a series of images captured from HST, I think. There were 8 or nine we could see fairly easily from Grand Canyon, as they moved in circles through the week. The hard part was keeping in mind their movement is circular, not linear like Jupiter's moons. I look forward to seeing them in my 20" this year.
