Jupiter with a Barlow problem.

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this is a repeat but I am new here and not sure of the best place for my query.

I am new to this hobby and have had my skymax 127 and asi120mc for about a month.

I am pleased with my Barlow-less pics of Jupiter but when using the Barlow the colour and contrast look washed out and faded.

Both images were taken with the same equipment on the same night, I tried various gain and exposure settings and had no joy.

Am I missing something?

The Barlow cuts down the light to the camera. Same problem here . 40fps

with it . 90 fps with out. I ended up using 2 x 2" - 80mm extension tubes.

This gave me a f/l  of 3k instead of 2k for my C8. F15 instead of f10.

Works quite well.
