osbourne one-nil
Not only is this an event at a Cumbrian triathlon, but it's also something I'm thinking of doing with my two telescopes. Now I've got a impressively steady T-Tex mount for my Vixen 5.5" refractor, I'm trying to decide how to mount my Tak FC100D; I could get a Portamount for it; they're good, or I could piggyback it on my Vixen. If I wanted to do that. however, would I need to get another set of rings to support a dovetail? The rings that secure my Vixen are obviously turned 90º to an equatorially-mounted scope as the clamp is on the side. This means the holes on the "top" of the rings are actually on the side. Perhaps I could just mount the Tak on to the side of the Vixen? I suspect that's not wise! I know what I mean...does anyone else?
Tinker1947
I think it may be a bit iffy getting it balanced but it would be do able not sure about the flexture that could happen, a side by side set-up would be a better bet.... http://www.firstlightoptics.com/adm-vixen-type-v-series/adm-v-series-side-by-side-mounting-system.html
osbourne one-nil
Ah! So I could turn my clamp 90º so the main dovetail slotted in "vertically" and the two additional dovetails take the two scopes, one above the other. That could work if there's enough clearance....I think. No, hang on, you mean side by side...so how would that attach to a clamp which has a vertical face? See - I am being thick! Thanks!
