Hello,

I currently use EQMOD to perform star alignmnet. Simply adding references- normally 2, and then I can goto anywhere, by selecting an object in Stellarium and then slewing to it (via Stellariumscope). What I am trying to understand, is what is on offer from the various specific software packages. How for example does MaximDL or Astroart achieve this ? Are there similar routines in these packages for star alignment ?. Then I guess is there an option to enter what object I want to goto ? - as I assume there is no planaterium interface.
