Struve 699: help for a spectrum of this binary star

Recommended Posts

Dear amateur spectroscopists,

I would be very grateful if someone of you would acquire a spectrum of STF699.

We are having a very interesting thread on this double on cloudynights

see here: http://www.cloudynights.com/topic/523320-blue-impression-struve-699/

due to the incredible impression that this couple exhibits visually (i.e., the secondary showing a clear blue color that vanish almost immediately. At second sight, both stars look whitish).

I'm therefore collecting some material (also historical observations)

see here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwnfNA6OezBPRGlPOE95Z1RYNUE

And I would appreciate to have a spectrum of this couple and know from you something about this intriguing couple.

Would be someone interested to take this challenge?

Many many thanks

Marco

Hi Marco,

The brighter component (HD35313) is listed in this catalogue as A1v (ie similar to Vega for example)

http://cdsads.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/nph-bib_query?1985ApJS...59...95A

The other component (TYC 2909-1912-1) is given as A0, in SIMBAD  but that is probably just based on the colour index rather than a spectrum

http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-basic?Ident=TYC2909-1912-1

At mag 8/9 and a separation of 9 arcsec, It would make a nice spectroscopic challenge for someone

(I seem to have been constantly clouded out for months here)

Ciao Robin, Thanks for your answer, yes, I already checked in the catalogs but exactly what you said, It would be great to get a spectrum from someone of you to learn more. I'm in fact interested to write a small article on the italian "Bollettino delle Stelle Doppie" and willing to include these data (and authorship of course) in this small article. I'm looking forward therefore to clear skies for all of you...here is raining like mad since 2 weeks! best from Switzerland
