Nexstar 4SE vs. Nexstar 5SE.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a big question ...: As we compare the Nexstar 4SE with Nexstar 5SE, in relation to visual observation of the moon and planets, and in relation to visual observation of DSO ..? The diameter always wins? Maksutov telescope more contrast? What is more obstruction? the focal length would play a key role?
The two telescopes are small and manageable, the Goto mount, hold 5SE perfectly as it does with the 4SE? Other considerations?
a greeting
PAUL

I had the Nexstar 5 for a while and found the mount fine for visual observing.

The aperture difference will show when observing deep sky objects but the maksutov-cassegrain design of the 4SE might equalise things a little more on the Moon and planets.

I've owned a couple of C5's on other mounts and thought them quite capable little scopes - even a Skywatcher AZ-3 will carry one !
