8 x 42 Reccomendations pls!

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a pair of 8 x 42 bins for all of astronomy, birding and safari use, and I'm looking for your expert recommendations Oh, they have to be less than £100

I had pretty much selected the Celestron Outland ( http://www.thebinocularshop.com/celestron-outland-x-42mm-binoculars.html)but couldnt really find any reliable reviews for them and so I thought I'd defer to your knowledgable opinions before parting with my money.

In principle you should, on that budget, go for Porro prisms rather than roof prisms. They are less expensive to make so, for a given price, you get more optical quality with Porros.

Steve at FLO is very expert on binoculars. I doubt he'd lead you in anything but a good direction.

I really like my pair of Olympus DPS 1 8x40's.

However, as far as binoculars go its all a matter of opinion so I'd recommend going to somewhere to try a few pairs out to see what suits you.

I recently got a pair of binoculars that had got excellent reviews, but despite really wanting to like them, I couldn't get on with them.

Also, I have recently reviewed the Opticron Adventurer 10x50; if the 8x40 is of equivalent quality, it would be darned good value for money.
