Just thinking about cutting that home makes my palms sweat... ;^)

Do you push or pull with the fan? Where does air exit out enter?

 It draws air in from outside and blows it against the back of the primary, then around it and out through the visual back aperture. Reduces cool-down time by half.

Yes, there's a foam filter behind the fan grille (which is home made). I cut the hole with a hole saw and a file to clean up, but the scope was stripped down at the time so no mirror or corrector plate! I was doing some major surgery at the rear end to stabilise the mirror.
