'That star' near M65?

Recommended Posts

Having just had a about 3 seconds of excitement looking at my shot of the Leo Triplet noticing what looked like a supernova in it... then looking at more pics online to realise this star has always been there :(.....

... probably a stooopid question, but is it a star in the foreground (milky way jobby) or is it related to M65 in anyway?

Pulled these two pics up from Starry Night with a few stars labelled on it. We usually can't see individual stars in nearby galaxies unles they do go supernova, so I would be reasonably sure that what you have seen is something in 'line of sight' from the milky way.

I hope this helps in some way.
