Deep Sky Stacker Final Image Problems

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am an amateur astronomer and I really need help.

I've been trying incredibly hard to get a nice final image off of Deep Sky Stacker but all of the things I have tried have failed.

The image is extremely grainy with lots of unnecessary red and blue pixels in empty space that weren't in the lights but have now appeared. Also, there are color blobs and color grains.  Hazing appeared around some stars and the image, no matter how processed, is very unpleasant.

I used about 300 two-second exposures (I don"t have a star tracking mount)

20 Darks

20 Flats

20 Bias

I tried 2x drizzle and it made the problem worse.

Nikon D3200

And DeepSkyStacker version 3.3.2

Please Help! Anyone who knows what the are doing will be very well appreciated!

2second exposures are rather short.

It looks like chromatic abberration, may be you were using a poor lens or an achromatic refractor.

What scope or camera lens were you using and what settings on the camera?

2x drizzle will no doubt make it look worse as your doubling the image size.

What ISO are you using?

Are you aligning the RGB (selecting this option pre-stacking, and manually dragging the channels to align at the end lf stacking)?

The image on screen at the end of stacking always looks different to what you can then save as a *.tif and process in your chosen processing software.

Align the RGB, and save the tif file to drop box and see if anyone can have a play at processing it for you.

I'm REALLY impressed with the result for 2 second exposures, well done.

James
