Comparing 300D with/without IR filter

Recommended Posts

Hello,

A friend of mine lent me a Canon 300D without IR filter and I have my unmodified 300D. I thought I could compare the two in the same conditions. What current deep-sky target would be most appropriate for that do you think?

Thank you!

Something with Ha emissions would be ideal as this is what it is all about - not an original choice, I know but the Rosette Nebula is a beautiful object that is not too badly placed in the South at the moment but it is large so you will need a focal length of 600mm or less to capture it in it's entirety.
