Stacking Problems

Hi guys, first attempt at stacking didn't go well,

Couldn't get registax to work so had to use starstax

After importing 27 images of the moon from my DSLR from tonight I clicked stack and it started processing only to leave me with a blurred and muddled image !!

Not all of the pictures were directly central in the frame because I haven't got tracking but is this the problem or am I doing something wrong ?

I would preprocess the images using PIPP first, turning them into TIFF files (I assume you've got RAW images to start with?).  Then Registax should do the job.

I didn't shoot in raw (my bad) was so exited to test my camera out I forgot !!

Also is it really important to keep the images central so that they are easily aligned or is there a way to allign the images after you have taken them ?

PIPP can align the images for you, which will make life much easier for Registax.
