March 7, 2015: Big new AR swing into view

Just spotted the big new AR visible on SDO yesterday. A big sunspot is visible surrounded by a lot af very bright plage. A prom seems to be associated with it. Conditions are very hazy but if skies clear I might be able to image it. This AR will finally give the white-light observers something to shout about.

A nice big sharp prom is coming from it at the moment. I'm heading out but I'll see what is going on when we get back.

The region has been crackling with activity.

Yes the region looks very active. The plage looks like it could spit forth flares at any moment.
